🤪 IS SOCIAL MEDIA DRIVING YOU INSANE?
That is totally valid! Social media and mental health go hand in hand these days, whether we like it or not. I used to feel that way frequently until I set strict phone boundaries and created automated routines to help me thrive.
I would have never guessed that mental health would play the large role that it has in my [neurodivergent] entrepreneurial journey. With May being Mental Health Awareness Month, I’d love to share how I keep sane while specializing in social media.
📲 MAKE SOCIAL MEDIA LESS STRESSFUL AGAIN
Facebook wasn’t stressful 19 years ago when you couldn’t carry it with you… here’s how to cut the cord:
My top practical tips for protecting your mental health on social media — especially if you have ADHD — are: set break reminders, quiet mode [with auto-reply to messages], and daily limits on any app that allows you [Instagram, TikTok, Facebook]!

Focus Modes on the iPhone have also been a game changer for keeping my ADHD brain focused at all points during the day, especially when working. I have Mindfulness, Personal, Work, and Dinner modes all automated throughout the day, giving me access to only the apps I need during that time.

I also have a Sleep Schedule set on my iPhone, pausing ALL notifications starting 3 hours before I go to bed every night so I can properly wind down with my sleep hygiene ritual… and for the first 1.5 hours that I wake up so I don’t get sucked into a doomscroll first thing when I wake. This has been CRITICAL as I recovered from severe burnout.

⚡ MENTAL HEALTH + SOCIAL MEDIA
Doug Downs [from Stories and Strategies Podcast Productions] mentioned to me the other week that overall social media usage was declining... and I said GOOD! We've been learning a lot about how social media impacts mental health… go watch The Social Dilemma if you haven’t yet. So I would HOPE that we would all be more intentional about our social media usage.
